By Ellen Walford

Many successful people state that they are the most productive in the morning. If you are not a morning person then you may disagree, however establishing a good morning routine will not only help you develop good habits, but it will enable you to focus, accomplish more in your workday, achieve your goals, and improve your life overall.

We’ve put together 5 steps you can take to create a morning routine for success:

Wake up at the same time every day

Stick to a schedule! Set your alarm for the same time every day and stick to it. Keeping yourself on a schedule will help you sleep better and have more energy overall. You should also aim to go to bed at the same time every night too – aim for at least 8 hours a night!

Allow natural light into your room

Natural sunlight helps set the day off right! Natural light is crucial in helping boost your mood and your ability to complete tasks. If you prefer total darkness when you sleep, open the curtains when you're up and ready to start the day and let in that natural light. Another idea is to invest in a natural daylight lamp.

Eat a healthy breakfast

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. So, make sure you schedule in some time for breakfast and fuel your body with some healthy nutritious foods. A good breakfast will give your body the fuel it needs to have a successful and productive day – you can’t run on empty! few breakfast ideas include Porridge, Fruits, Eggs, or a Smoothie!

Meditate

Meditating is great for keeping you calm and practicing gratitude. You don’t need to meditate for an hour! Because let’s face it – we don’t all have time for that! But meditating for a few minutes in the morning can relax you and get you into a positive mindset. If you’re having trouble getting started, try a five-or 10-minute guided meditation.

Make a to-do list

Write down a to-do list of all the things you want to accomplish for the day. Check the items off as you go so you can track your productivity. You will feel such a sense of achievement when you start to see tasks being accomplished. There’s nothing more satisfying than ticking things off your to-do list! This is why we decided to include a dedicated to-do section in our Mindset is Everything planners!
